The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold - Review

Summary: We view the life of Susie's family and friends while she's in her heaven after being raped and murdered by their  neighbor in the 70s.

I have this listed as I read it in 2014 on my Goodreads. Which is a lie I read this around it around 2007-2009 some point in high school. I remember picking it up at random from the local library. I can probably walk you to where it still is there.

I didn't have much context when I picked out this book. I just picked it at random to have something to read. It seemed interesting enough. I wasn't surprised when it was announced that it was going to be made into a movie.

It had an emotional impact on me. Very traumatizing to read it and I am still afraid to touch any of her other books. It's a good read with different concepts surrounding Susie and how life continued on without her.

I liked the heaven, a not very Christian heaven, her parents reaction to her death, and the way it resolves Harvey. There is no complete justice it feels startlingly too real with how it resolves her being murdered. Not everyone gets a final ending that's done up neatly.

But I'm still traumatized by this again, I'm too afraid to go in and read the woman's other books just in case they're have the same emotional impact.
