1910-1918

1. Madam C.J. Walker - 1st African American woman millionaire
. 2. Alice Stebbins Wells - 1st American born woman sworn in as a police officer - Los Angeles.

4. Harriet Quimby - 1st woman licensed as an airplane pilot in America.


5. Girl Guides of America (Girl Scouts) established as the 1st voluntary organization for girls.

6. Caresse Crosby - 1st woman to patent a brassiere


7. Margaret Singer - open 1st birth control center.


8. Jeannette Rankin - 1st American woman elected to congress.


9. Loretta Perfectus Walsh - 1st woman to enlist in the US Navy in a non-nursing position.

10. Annette Adams- 1st female assistant US attorney general


11. Opha May Johnson - 1st woman to enlist in the US Marines.


12. Genevieve & Lucille Baker - 1st uniformed women to serve in the US Coast Guard.

13.Sara Teasdale - 1st woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
