This was one of the many books for children I've picked up from Goodwill.

It was interesting enough. A decent story to read together. It doesn't seem like it's an easy to find book. I couldn't find any Youtube read alouds or anything.

#Questions: What do you review?

Currently, I read anything I receive through Netgalley and Hidden Gems. Books I read that I've purchased and picked up from the library.

I read mostly science fiction and fantasy genre. But I've been widening my book picks. I've found some books out side of my comfort zone and enjoyed. So, it's working so far!

A Natural History of Dragons - Marie Brennan Book 1

When I was seven, I found a sparkling lying dead on a bench at the edge of the woods which formed the back boundary of our garden, that the groundskeeper had not yet cleared away.

Summary: Lady Trent is an older woman who is telling about her young, exciting days as a naturalist. She's also clearing up any and all misconceptions of her and what went down during these adventures

Good:

Based on the book cover what do you think you're getting yourself into? A scientific look into a fantasy creature? A doctor notes and whatever else goes along with it? Maybe even pictures document discoveries and dissections?

NO.

You get to experience a woman who is living in Victorian era in a world where there are dragons. We learn about how she gets to start working with dragons alongside her husband. This Victorian era, Lady Trent, her religion and beliefs are here but in small dabs here and there and they follow close to Judaism. I loved this.  

It is a memoir, we are pulled to Lady Trent and some of her comments along the way.  It has subtle/small bits of humor throughout not a laugh out loud jokes aplenty but it has its moments.

There are FIVE BOOKS ABOUT HER. I haven't finished this series yet!

Bad: 

 It is a slow start kind of read. I had to come back to it several times before it caught me and wouldn't let go.  Bad for me was that I read this while they were getting written so I had to WAIT for every book to come out which is a struggle.

Recommend?:

If you're expecting dragon tamer, dragon fliers, fighters and adventure that is USUALLY alongside dragons this isn't going to be that great to you.

This is a story about a creature that isn't studied, rumors/theories about these things are slowly becoming disproved by Lady Trent and her team through their work.

It is definitely different in the way it is written, the way the world is build and describe and what we get.

Inside Wattpad this story is currently #9 in Fantasy. It has been viewed 182k times. It's been starred almost up to 13K. I do not believe she has posted this anywhere else other than Wattpad as I didn't find it anywhere else. If this isn't the case then let me know! 

The girl is sixteen years old who lives in a village somewhere out there. It is a first person account of her life. Part of her life includes being able to communicate with the moon as per the title of the story. Though she admits that she isn't sure if it's actually the moon as she just associates the conversations with the moon because they only happen when the moon is out.

One of the perks of reading stories on Wattpad is that they're free and for the most part are heavy in diversity. Which is a good thing. This story is diverse with regards to the characters. The main character is mute she can only communicate with sign language. It's regarded as a disability where she lives but her family loves and accepts this.

Herophobia - Alex Lane - Review

Herophobia by Alex Lane is an ebook that follows Quinn who has a 'superpower'. It's not Superman life of people who love you for what you do for their community. It's a life that is completely opposite rippled with fear and being monitored by the government.

Quinn is an empath it's told to us at the beginning of the story. He has an asshole friend who told some people that he was an empath. In this story, it's common for empaths to become friends with the type of character Kevin is. Which is unfortunate because no one needs someone who would spill about something that their friend would like to keep secret.

In this universe people who have abilities is heavily discriminated against and heavily monitored. So, spilling about this isn't just something someone would take lightly. He had just told them that he was a Virt -- what people who have super abilities are called here. Then, he goes and tells about it.  I understand the lack of friends at school but sheesh. 

My favorite parts of this story is his romantic interest because it's not overly flowery with the romance. The people who start investigating his abilities because it's revealed at the start of the story that he is more than just an empath. 

I enjoy the way this book ends as well. Usually I am against the way it ends because it doesn't end-end. But it gives the story a somewhat Twilight / The Outer Limits feel the way it makes it exit. According to the author there is a sequel on the way. 

His other ability is more frightening than just being someone who can feel others emotions. It's worth the $2.99 to get the ebook though you can go over to wattpad to read it for free. It's worth the money spent. You can purchase on Amazon, BN Nook & Smashwords. The links are provided under the cover at the top.

Now with The Gifted on Fox it's a great way to get your fix on discriminated minorities with super abilities.

Tl;dr ---- I am glad that I picked this up on Amazon and read it. I recommend it. You can read it for free on Wattpad OR be awesome and go buy it!
